Hills Produce Market, Uraidla – Sunday market. Open every Sunday between November and April, and the first Sunday of each month during May to October.
Cleland Wildlife Park – Adelaide’s most loved wildlife reserve. Get up close and personal with kangaroos, koalas and many other indigenous fauna.
Mount Lofty Summit – Spectacular views of Adelaide from its highest point (2,385 feet). Also a comprehensive array of tourism information, café and restaurant.
Warrawong Earth Sanctuary – One of the world’s unique natural habitat reserves. Spot the elusive platypus on a guided dawn or dusk walk. Dine al fresco on bush tucker with the bettongs and potoroos – an unforgettable experience.
Hahndorf – South Australia’s historic German settlement village. Stroll the main street, enjoy German goodies at the pubs and cafes and sample some of the Adelaide Hills’ best regional produce. Also, the Hahndorf Academy for prints and work of local artists and potters.
National Motor Museum, Birdwood – This museum boasts one of the most extensive and important collections of cars, motor cycles and commercial vehicles in the world. You don’t have to be a petrol-head to love this! Also stop off at the Birdwood Wine & Cheese Centre.
Heart of the Hills Market, Lobethal – A charming country market which showcases an extensive array of local produce. Also wine tastings and excellent quality arts and crafts in the adjoining gallery. Open every weekend and public holidays. Perfect for special gifts for friends back home.

The Adelaide Hills wine region is fast building a reputation as one of the finest producers of cool climate wines in the world. There are now in excess of 50 wineries scattered throughout the area, all within a short drive of Burdett's Country Retreats at Basket Range. Many offer tasting platters of regional produce, and some also have excellent restaurant facilities.

Further afield, to the north, are the vineyards of the famous Barossa Valley and Clare Valley and to the south, the Southern Vales wine region. These districts are still within easy reach of your accommodation and make an ideal day trip.
